This is a count of women killed by known or suspected male violence in a Australia, jointly undertaken by Reclaim the Night Perth and Women Shout Out Australia.
Nelda Mavis Edwards, 88, died after being administered medication at her Sandy Bay home on March 4, 2016. Police arrested her son, Dr Stephen Edwards, 61, at his practice at Woy Woy on the Central Coast April 28. He has been charged with his Mothers murder.
Edwards appeared in court in Gosford Friday 29 April, where an extradition order was granted. He is due to arrive in Hobart on Saturday night.
The 61-year-old GP, Stephen Edwards, has also been suspended from practising as a doctor by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Condolences go to Ms Edwards’ family and friends.
