We’re very sad to report the death of the 51st woman to known or assumed male violence in Australia in 2016.
Crystal Ratcliffe, 38, was found dead in a Woomala St Worree residence last Thursday afternoon. Her partner Ricky Cowan, 47, was taken to Cairns Hospital in a critical condition, also suffering stab wounds.
Ricky has since been charged with murder over the stabbing death of Crystal.
We extend our deepest condolences to Ms Ratcliffe’s family and friends, particularly the couple’s children.

At the time of posting, 92% of the alleged killers of women in Australia in 2016 were male (61 of the total 66 alleged perpetrators), with 12 missing or dead women on the watch list. 95% of women were killed, where known, by male perpetrators (or male and female perpetrators).
