#50 – Man Murders Woman 2016

In Memory Man Murders Woman 2016

Continuing the horror spate of fatal male violence against women, a fifth woman has been killed by known or presumed male violence in a ten day period, the fourth in a single week.

Garry Paul Hudson, 55,  was been charged with the murder of  Delanne Zingle. Ms Zingle and the rest of the Kowanyama community were gathered to mourn the death of Mr Hudson’s partner on 7 October 2016.

It is alleged that Mr Hudson, who had been in conflict with his partner’s family over her cancer treatment before her death, drove deliberately into the house. Sources report that Ms Zingle pleaded with the accused not to drive into the house.

Ms Zingle, 48, was killed and 26 others were injured, some critically, in the crash and subsequent collapse of the house. 14 of the injured mourners were transported out of the small community for treatment in Cairns and Townsville.
We extend our deepest condolences to Ms Zingle’s family and friends, and the entire Kowanyama community.
