Paramedics were called to Whitehaven Crescent in Balga, Western Australia about 7pm Tuesday 4 October 2016 after it was reported a woman was standing outside bleeding from the neck.
81-year-old Barbara Chokolich was pronounced dead at the scene. Her son, Steven John Chokolich, appeared in the Perth Magistrate’s Court today charged with murdering his mother.
It is understood Ms Chokolich was the accused man’s carer.
Magistrate Thomas Hall said a report by the State Forensic Mental Health Service revealed Mr Chokolich was unfit to understand the charge against him. Mr Chokolich was remanded to the secure Frankland Centre until he next appears in court on October 12.
We extend our deepest condolences to Ms Chokolich’s family and friends.
