On 9 April 2016, a woman died in the Indigenous community of Pormpuraaw on Cape York Peninsula. Police said they arrived at a home at 6:30am after receiving reports of an assault.
An unnamed man, believed known to the woman, is assisting with inquiries.
Condolences go to the victim’s family and friends.
UPDATE: the man charged in relation to this death is being reported as the victim’s partner.
