Tamara Turner

It is with much sadness we report the murder of the 30th woman to male violence in Australia this year.

Tamara Turner, 49, from Missouri USA, was dropped off at Mildura Base Hospital 7am Monday 6 June by her husband Steven Samaras, 47 from Preston Melbourne. Police said she was dead on arrival, having suffered injuries consistent with a violent assault.

Mr Samaras and Ms Turner, who had travelled from Melbourne to Mildura, were believed to be newlyweds, with the woman having moved from Missouri in the United States to be with Mr Samaras late last year.

Mr Samaras was arrested by Darebin detectives in Preston, in Melbourne’s north, at 10.40am on Tuesday.

He was still being questioned by homicide detectives late on Tuesday afternoon. Our hearts go out to Tamara’s family & friends.
